For our first park day, we headed to the Animal Kingdom.
The first thing we did was go into the "Bug's Life" 3-D movie, since the line was short. We have now learned that Cecily CANNOT DEAL with 3-D movies, especially the kind that include sprays of water and gusts of air to make them more realistic. It very much threatened to ruin the whole day, fortunately, our next stop was to meet Mickey & Minnie. Vacation saved...at least for now.
DisneyWorld snacks, round 1:
We got a FastPass for the KaliRiver Rapids ride. Fortunately, I had thought ahead and brought ponchos since Cecily had ZERO interest in getting wet.
We actually didn't really need the ponchos, it wasn't super wet, but we would have needed them if I hadn't brought them (more on that tomorrow).
Our final Fast Pass for the day was the jungle safari, which was hands-down the kid's favorite part. I've never been on a real safari, but it did feel very much like a ride through an animal reserve. We saw hippos, black & white rhinos, elephants, and giraffes.
This is what happens when you tell the kids "You can spend your money on whatever you want."
Pluto was not a fan of the Goofy hat.
We also got to meet Russ & Dug from "Up". We quickly discovered that the "celebrity encounters" at the parks were much more popular with the under-10 contingent of our family than any of the rides. Which is probably for the best since the lines for most of the rides were 90+ minutes.
We paid for the PhotoPass (where you can download all the photos the Disney photographers take), so I tried to get a family photo taken every day.
Waiting for the DinoLand Back in Time roller coaster, I think this was the only roller coaster the kids actually liked.
