Happy Halloween!

After spending 95% of her life in a dress/costume, this is how Cecily chose to dress for trick-or-treating.  This girl, I don't even know...

At least Parker got into his costume.

We eventually convinced Cecily to add wings & a tutu.

We walked over to the neighborhood by school, the kids had a GREAT time.  Eventually, Cecily's bag got so heavy she couldn't carry it and she kept asking "Can we go home now?!?!"  But I think Parker would have kept going forever.

Seattle Children's Museum

The kids didn't have school on the 31st, so we headed down to the Seattle Children's Museum.

The museum is super run-down and (in my opinion) not all that fun.  But, the kids still had a great time, so what do I know?  Just because half the displays are worn out or broken, why shouldn't they still be fun?

Cecily especially enjoyed starring in her own show.

Oh Cecily...

I really think this is how everyone should dress for a graveside service...

Halloween Party!

Parker didn't have school on Halloween, so they had their Harvest Party a few days early.  Parker seemed disappointed that I wasn't going to dress up, so I went for it:

First, they had a mini-carnival in the lunchroom, I helped the kids make fall picture frames.  This is Parker & his school best friend Samuel:

Then, it was time for the costume parade!

They lined up in their classroom and then Parker's class started out the Parade that ended up walking through every classroom in the school.

Parker had SUCH a great time!

Gymnastics

After watching the Olympics, Cecily decided that she was done with ballet and wanted to do gymnastics this year.

She's still getting the hang of it, but she likes it.

Afterwards, I asked her if she had a good time, her answer: "Yeah!  But Mama, we didn't do very much dancing"  Looks like ballet might be back on the agenda for next quarter.

Pumpkins

Time to carve pumpkins!

The kids were actually semi-helpful this year in getting the goo out.  We still had to help with the scraping, but they're getting closer to self-sufficiency.

My poor pumpkin was already in pretty sad shape before I started.  Between the rot & the squirrels, I'm not sure there was much left to carve.

After:

Cecily drew me a picture to carve in her pumpkin:

The result:

Parker had two pumpkins, so Keith traced his hand for the first (small) one.  Unfortunately, by the time we got around to carving the bigger one a few days later, the squirrels had gotten to it and it was a rotten mess.
