Parker Mowing

Cecily's Birthday Skirt

Perhaps I did make it a touch too full.

And this is what she looked like AFTER I wiped her off:

She managed to find Parker's bowl and help herself.

Bedtime Stories

Parker loves story time with Daddy.

But where's Cecily?
Little Miss Independent will not sit-still for story time for anything.

But she seems willing to read the story to herself.
Keith told me that she got down out of his lap by rappelling down his leg, using his leg hair as a rope.

Otter Pops

Otter Pops are an important part of growing up in the summer.  Sure, they're just water, sugar, and artificial flavors & colors with no redeeming value, but sometimes you have to let it go & enjoy the sunshine.

I gave Cecily a chunk of my Otter Pop in her mesh feeder, I think she's a fan.

Parker was still waking up, so he's not so sure.  Give him another half-hour and he'll be all-over it.

Country Village

Friday afternoon, we were at the "Train Park" and a Grandma there mentioned that they have a train similar to the one in Sunriver at Country Village in Bothell, so Saturday morning, we headed over to check the place out.

I used to go to Country Village occasionally with my Mom, "back in the day", but it's been ages since I've been there.  It's a cute little shopping area, with interesting looking shops and play areas.

I'm not 100% certain it's the safest place to play, I'm guessing that everything is covered with lead-paint, and I'm absolutely certain that there were tons of exposed screws on the pirate ship.  But, the kids had a great time.

The train ride is $3.50 per person over one, Cecily just barely got to ride for free.

Parker got his own train car.

He LOVED it!

Our little dare devil had a good time too, but she's not afraid of anything.

Sunriver Vacation - Train Ride

They have a small train that takes kids on a short tour of the Sunriver "downtown" for $3.  Friday afternoon, we let Parker take a ride (along with Uncle Jared).

He LOVED it, I think we'll be hearing about it for a long time in the future.

We also made our last trip to Goodys, the ice cream parlor.

Parker had a great time on vacation, but by the end, I think he was ready to go home.  The last two nights, he asked to go to sleep "at home, on your bed".  The last night, he fell asleep on the floor of our closet, next to Cecily's Pack & Play.

It must have been a great vacation if you're falling asleep on the closet floor, right?

We had a great time, Keith's already planning to go back next summer.  Now we just need to find an 11-bedroom house, so our friends can come too...

Sunriver Vacation - High Desert Museum

While Dad went golfing with Brian & Dwayne, the rest of us headed over to the High Desert Museum.

Without question, the favorite part was the "Miller's Homestead", where the kids could work the pump, dig for potatoes, and play with the old timey toys.

I have several spectacularly entertaining videos of everyone trying to play with these hoops.  But I have to see these people at holidays & such, so I'll refrain from posting them here.

The Need family stayed at the museum for over six hours.  After a few hours, our family was hot, hungry, & tired and we headed back to the cabin.  We'll go again some time when we're not quite so tied to the nap schedule.
