In the 8 years we've been here, I've never once seen our neighbors in their backyard. It's a total mess of blackberries and bushes, all of which are at least 50% leaning into our yard and trying to eat our fence.
But, on my birthday, we woke up to the sound of chainsaws. They had a work crew of about 5 guys who were there for about a day & a half, and they essentially clear-cut the entire lot.

Did you know they had a shed back there? Us either.
Our back yard feels so much more open, it's almost like it's twice the size! I might actually be able to grow something back there now.
We thought maybe they were clearing the yard out to get the house ready to sell, but since nothing else has changed in the last two weeks, we're guessing this is just their once every 10 years yard work schedule.
Either way, it was a pretty awesome birthday present, especially since the rest of my birthday involved being stuck home with a kid too sick to go to school, but not sick enough to sleep all day.
