Granted, my children are nothing compared to their cousins, but they do enjoy the opportunity to climb anything. Here, Parker is working on his house, I'm not sure what Cecily's goal was, but I'm sure she was being helpful (in her own way).

Trip to the Cabin
We went to the cabin Friday night for President's Day weekend. I think we spent more time in the ferry line than we did at the cabin (and certainly more time than we spent sleeping), but we had a good trip.
Saturday morning, we went to the Braeburn again for breakfast. They continue to have the best food coupled with the absolute worst service, but there's not much to pick from in Langley.
After breakfast, we headed home for a busy weekend of birthday parties.

Legos at the EMP
Keith's company doesn't get President's Day off, but he does get a "floating" holiday that he never gets around to using every year. So, we combined last year & this year's floating holiday and he's taking Friday-Monday off this year. We tried this last year and it did not go well, but ever the optimists, we're giving it another go.
So, Friday morning, we headed over to the EMP to see the Lego Exhibit.
The Legos were cool, but didn't occupy Parker's attention for all too long, but he LOVED the music.
Parker got to listen to different kinds of music, play with computers, and play the piano, drum, & guitar. He had a blast.
We had to drag him kicking & screaming out once we were done.

Play Fluff
Somewhere online I found this recipe for "cloud dough", it's essentially flour & oil, but it makes a cool "sticky" powder. Of course, to make it I had to go to the store for both flour & oil, but I finally got around to making it this week.
Parker LOVED it and spent almost an hour playing with it while I made dinner.
Cecily also loved it, but mostly she loved grinding it into the carpet. Fortunately, most of it vacuumed up and I'm not too attached to that carpet anyway.

Snow Day!
So, one of the downfalls of having church-in-a-gym is that once a month, I have to leave the house at 7am to get the coffee started. But one of the benefits is that when there's snow, we don't mess around, we just go ahead & cancel church (translated to: I got to go back to bed).
We had a great, quiet day home in the snow. We played in the snow, baked crackers, and both children took good naps.
It was an all-around great snow day.

Parker's first day of "pretty school"
Parker has been looking forward to going to school forever. He's been so jealous of all his cousins & friends going to school that we decided to find something he could join now. He is SUPER excited about his first day of "pretty school".
Of course, you'll notice that the date on his sign is wrong...Parker was supposed to start on Tuesday, but he's been sick all week and he couldn't go on Tuesday. I knew he was sick when I asked him if he wanted to take a nap or go to preschool and he said "nap". He seems to be better today, so I let him go.
We signed him up for a Tuesday/Thursday afternoon class, so the theory is that I'll have a few hours to myself with Cecily sleeping & Parker at school. It's not working out so well yet, Cecily finally fell asleep 20 minutes ago & we have to leave to pick Parker up in 15 minutes. Guess we'll give it another try next week.
When I dropped him off, the teacher told me I could call in half an hour or so & check on him. Yeah, that didn't happen, I have absolute confidence that my son will be the one I have to drag away kicking & screaming, I know he'll be fine. I'll be fine too, except for perhaps over-estimating how much I can get done in three child-free hours.
Cecily is 18 Months!
Can you believe it!?!
Cecily is turning out to be such a fun little girl. She is constant attitude with absolute opinions on everything. We're looking forward to when she has a few more words so we can know what exactly she wants, at the moment her "asking" for things involves a lot of screaming & shaking her head "no".
But she is learning new words every day, her favorite is "Daddy", but she knows: more, doggie, ball, beep beep (which she says as she's backing up, like a truck), and lots more. She knows all the sounds for animals and LOVES to talk about kitties and say "away" when the birdies outside fly away from the birdfeeder. It's amazing to see how much she understands when you talk to her.
When you give her food & tell her it's hot, she turns & blows on it to cool it off, just about the cutest thing ever.
She loves the dog, often walking over to the sleeping Darcy & showing us where his "eye" is, Darcy is not so excited about being woken up by a toddler jabbing her finger in his eye and saying "eye, eye".
Cecily also loves her big brother, following after him and watching whatever he's doing. Well, except for when Parker WANTS her to follow him, at which point she flat-out refuses to be in the same room as him.
She's been walking for about 5 months now, so she's pretty steady on her feet, but she still seems to have days where gravity is winning the battle.
Cecily's hair is continuing to grow (as hair is known to do), she still manages to have her top-knot pony tail most days, but it's just a matter of time before her hair is too long. As it is, when we don't pull her hair back you can barely see her eyes!
The whole family has been sick for the past few weeks, but sickness aside, Cecily has been sleeping pretty well. She occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night, but usually if I ignore her for a few minutes, she'll settle herself & go back to sleep.
We go in for her 18-month check-up next week, so we'll see how she's growing at that point, however we've been to the Dr several times already this year, so I expect she'll be around 20lbs, 6oz, as my guess. She's eating a ton and a generally happy girl, so I'm not concerned.

Today's project ~ my first sign
I got a Silhouette for Christmas and I'm super excited to try it out. I've done a few paper projects, but I've been wanting to make some painting projects. Here's my first attempt:
It's not perfect (actually, it's not even on the same continent as perfect), but I learned a lot and it's a good start.
Now, where was this thing when I was making all those signs at Christmas!?!
