Easter, round 1

One of our kids favorite Easter traditions is/was going to my Mom's home for their Easter Egg hunt.  They really missed doing it last year, so when my Dad invited us to the Mill Creek Egg Hunt, we were excited to go.

This dude is so handsome:

Parker's not excited about getting his photo taken...

This one is going up when he graduates from High School:

They had a few glittered eggs that earned you a special prize.  Cecily was pretty disappointed to not find one, but fortunately, we found one at the very end, thus saving the day for all involved.

She traded the sparkly egg in for LambLamb.

Parker sorted out his candy, this is my son.

The Guest Chef is in the house.

Our friend manages a retirement center in Mountlake Terrace.  Tuesday morning he sent me a text: "Could you teach a cooking class on Thursday afternoon?" ...ummm, sure?

Which is how I found myself teaching a bunch of 60+'ers how to make mini quiche on a random Thursday afternoon.

Movie time!

We took the kids to see Coco.

The Crest has certainly upped their game, they have reclining chairs and little tables at the end of each row.

Crazy Hair & Pajama day

After last year's attempt at coloring Parker's hair with chalk, I bought a can of colored hairspray back at Halloween, and we finally got a chance to try it out.  It didn't work as well as I was hoping, but still far better than the chalk, so we'll call it a win.

I'm pretty sure that "crazy hair and pj's" is Ceciy's go-to look, so naturally today she wanted to wear sweats and a pony tail.  But eventually I brought her around.

More pictures of Cecily's hair

Seriously, I have SO MANY of these...

Carpet Cleaning Day

I'm pretty sure that the day I clean the living room carpets is one of the kids' favorite days of the year.

...honestly, I wonder why we even have furniture at all?

Did you catch Cecily's line at the end of the video?  "Mama, can I go to my meditating spot?"

Kindergarten Girl's Tea

Our church had little get-together for each of the grade levels to introduce the kids & parents.  Cecily's friend's Mom and I organized a "Dolly and Me" tea party for the Kinder girls.

It took them all a little bit to warm up, but they ended up having a blast.

...and thanks to Sayuri's amazing macarons, Cecily is now obsessed with them.

Invention fair

So much drama in making this invention, but she looks happy at the invention fair anyway.

What does it do?  ...Not really sure, something about a horsie and a ladder and a pillow.  Whatever, it's done.

Visit from Ella & Aaron

Our friends went away for 10 days to celebrate their anniversary.  Their kids spent the bulk of the trip shuttling between grandparents, but they spent the last night at our house.

They arrived after dinner on Sunday, you could tell they'd spent a whole week away from their friends, all four were a giant pile of excitement.

Then, Monday morning, I had to get four kids up, lunch boxed, dressed, backpacked and off to three different schools, all of which start at 9:05.  By some miracle, I managed to get the three big kids all to school on-time, and really who cares if you get to preschool on-time?

I picked Aaron up at 1:00 so he had a few hours to himself in the afternoon, he spent much of his afternoon in some version of this get-up.

The kids had a great time and when our friends left our kids were disappointed that they didn't get more time together, which is probably a good way to end a sleep-over.

UW Gymnastics

Keith was chatting with a friend at church and mentioned that Cecily is taking gymnastics and he offered us some tickets to the UW Gymnastics meet.

Cecily was very concerned at the beginning because apparently they weren't doing "real gymnastics" (I have no idea...)

But eventually, we got some popcorn and the whole experience was better for all involved.

It actually was a really fun evening and Parker found it fascinating.
