It's 80-something degrees out...

...so this is how my children chose to dress for lunch.

A food blogger in the making...

"No bigs Mama, I'm just tweeting my breakfast"

Shoreline Fire Safety Center

We had a free Friday morning, and I heard about a play-time at the Fire Station, so we headed over.  Parker loves this place and asks me all the time if we can go.  This was the first time they've ever had a drop-in play time and the kids loved it.

They even had an aid car that we got to climb through.

Camping

It's no secret that I hate camping, but we love hanging out with the Hawkins family, so we trekked over to Dash Point State Park for the weekend.

The weather turned out great and we spent the entire afternoon out on the beach.

We didn't sleep much, but that's a given, right?

The Hawkins have two boys about Parker's age and their little girl is a few months older than Cecily and they are some of our kids' best friends.  It was a great weekend!

SunRiver Vacation - Heading Home

It's a long drive from SunRiver to Seattle, so we pretty much let Parker OD on Sesame Street episodes (I think he watched about 6 hour-long episodes).  When we got to the city at about 6:30, we stopped at Central Market to get something for dinner.  Parker immediately closed the computer and fell asleep...five minutes from home.

We tried to wake him up when we got home, but the ended up just putting himself to bed and sleeping through to the next morning.

SunRiver Vacation - Trip to town

On our last day in SunRiver, we decided to take a break from the pool and ride our bikes into town for ice cream.  But first, we stopped by the playground.

They had this cool merry-go-round that Parker loved.

Little-miss-fearless was content to climb to the top of the highest anything.

Cecily dancing:

The kids ended up taking several trips on the town train this week, they had a great time.  Keith & I joked that we should buy them a few more train tickets and then go out on a date while they rode.

...then it was time for ice cream!

Cecily was a little annoyed that we didn't buy her her own cone.  She eventually forgave us, but only after eating half of Keith & my cones.

How cute, Parker's sharing his ice cream cone with Cecily:

Parker took back his cone and she's ticked:

This is the closest we got to a family photo on this trip:
...probably not going on the Christmas card.

SunRiver Vacation - High Desert Museum

Like last year, we took a trip to the High Desert Museum.  Last year, I had Cecily strapped to my chest in the ergo for the whole visit, so most of my memories are of heat & dust, this trip was more enjoyable.

But first, you need a proper application of sunscreen:

The kids got to draw water, water plants, dig in the ground, and do laundry "old-school" style.

Parker LOVES chickens.  I'm considering getting some next summer, I'm just not sure I need any more lives to be responsible for.

My Dad told Parker that his Mom washed laundry in a similar manner...He's from the dark ages.

The shovel and wheelbarrow was Parker's favorite part, he would have spent the entire day happily digging holes and moving them somewhere else to dump.

Three seconds before I took this photo, Cecily & my dad were absolutely adorable, walking down the road holding hands.  Cecily seems to have a 6th sense for when I'm reaching for my camera and let go of Grandpa just "in-time"
