We hosted the first small group date night of the season, we only had 8 kids, so no big deal.

Cecily's First day of not-school
There was much playing of Ponies
We did introductions and it took about 20 minutes.
Grandpa made Cecily this cool barn for her birthday, it appears to be bursting at the seams already.
Since we had a few days together just the two of us, I thought it would be fun to have some Mama/Cecily adventures. We went in for Cecily's first mani/pedi. We tried a few months ago and she freaked out before we got in the chairs. This time I had to bribe her to sit in the chair with a video for a few minutes, but after that she had a blast.
Parker's First Day of School!
Parker's First Day of 1st Grade
He is in room 7 and his teacher is Mrs. Fetveit...and he is excited.
With the exception of Samuel, who's going to the High-Cap school this year, all of Parker's friends are in the same class as him.
Because of the WAKids conferences, Cecily doesn't start until Monday, she's not quite as excited about the first day.

Smokey last day of summer!
This summer has been so crazy, I can't believe this was our first trip to the Edmonds beach park!
I didn't use a fancy filter on these photos, it's just really that smokey out.
"Look Mama, it's a squid!"
Dad & Kathy are visiting Uncle Keith in Victoria, so Jared is staying with us for a few days. Parker & Jared were working on their rock-skipping. Jared got it to work a few times, Parker's throws actually seemed to be getting worse, we had to give him a wide berth or risk being whacked with a rock.

Breakfast at Leena's
We decided to go out for breakfast for Labor Day.
There's a little diner in the North City neighborhood of Shoreline that we like. The food is basic breakfast and the coffee is plentiful.

The Evergreen State Fair
We grabbed the Montzingos and headed to the fair in Monroe
The sign behind Cecily very clearly says "Please do not touch!" So, immediately after we took the photo, the rancher girl asked, "do you want to come pet the baby cow?" So, maybe it should say "Please do not touch, unless invited"?
Either way, the girls got to pet the baby cow.
As promised, we got some cotton candy.
We ate it while watching the drag races, which the boys (both the under-8 and the over-30 boys) LOVED, the girls not so much.
Finally, it was time for rides!
Cecily has grown enough in the past year that she was tall enough for all the rides and there was much less drama all around.
